Extending it to the io26 isn’t probably that hard. Ubuntu now has what is referred to as Alsa Firewire Stack which are kernel modules that are loaded into the operating system when you boot Ubuntu.
Alessis so jack doesn’t stay alive long enough for it to be useful but can you use the physical controllers to control playback vol and rec. Article confirming that this device is fully operational: NI Komplete Audio 6 – Class complient. I am sure there are wiser heads than me who can tell you other ways to tweak your setup. Alesis io 2 and NVidia CK I can now appreciate the guitarix stack of effects.
