Watch Dogs 2 runs on the Disrupt game engine, which is developed by Ubisoft Montreal.
- Pazera Free Audio Extractor is a universal audio converter. The program allows extraction of audio tracks from audio and video files without loss of sound quality or conversion to MP3, AAC, AC3, E-AC3, Ogg-Opus, Ogg-Vorbis, WMA, FLAC, M4A-AAC, M4A-ALAC, WV , MKA-Opus, CAF-Opus, AIFF or WAV.
- DAT2WAV is a command line program to dump the digital audio (at up to 4x speed) from a DAT tape to a WAV file. It also writes tapes from WAV and MP3 files. It runs only in a DOS window under Win95/98/NT/2K/XP. It requires that ASPI drivers be installed and running.
Extract Date From Datetime
Since every game’s engine is different, so different tools and strategies are used to manipulate game’s source files.
In case of Watch Dogs 2, it’s data files have extensions of .dat and .fat types.
A DAT file is a generic data file created by a specific application. It may contain data in binary or text format (text-based DAT files can be viewed in a text editor). DAT files are typically accessed only by the application that created them. Many programs create, open, or reference DAT files.
Extract audio from a WMV file to WAV or AIFF I have recently recorded a short video and it has picked up the noise of the computer fan. As a result the speech is hard to hear. I have a copy of Audacity to strip this hiss/rumble out, but it advises me to extract the audio out and convert to WAV or AIFF File. Any assistance would be of value.
Due to the Disrupt engine, these files can’t be extracted by any normal extractor or text editor.
To extract sound files from the .dat/.fat data files you will need some tools which i am linking references to:
- Watch Dogs 2 patch files (WD2 patch tools) -This will extract the .dat data file http://www.mediafire.com/file/8ai72rqji427mcn/WD2_patch_tools.zip
- .wem to .ogg converter – The extracted sound files will be in .wem format which are unplayable by any audio player in Windows. So you need to convert them to .ogg format which can be played by any audio player. https://1drv.ms/u/s!At8Z5w89AihZndkYb8tVxF3l5ldqBg
- .bnk to .ogg/.mp3 converter – Some sound files may get extracted to .bnk extensions. These are soundbanks, containing multiple .wem audio files.
- (Optional) I recommend using Resonic Player – It is a super fast and free audio player that will play the extracted files hassle-free.
Extracting sound files
First of all, copy the data file which you want to extract to have a backup in case of corruption. (e.g. copy sound.dat and sound.fat both from game’s directory to desktop.)
Now, put all the tools and the data files on the desktop.
drag and drop the sound.fat on WD2Extract.bat file. It would then extract the sound.dat file into a new subfolder named soundbinary in the sound folder.
At this point, you would now have a folder named soundbinary with many files having .wem extensions. As mentioned above, these can’t be played with any audio player. You would now need to convert these .wem files to something playable format like .ogg format.
To convert these .wem to .ogg format, you would need the converter linked above. First download the converter and extract it to desktop.
Copy the contents of the divinity_sound_converter to the soundbinary folder and then run divinity_converter.exe application.
After conversion, you would have all the converted files in the NUMBERED folder as all the .wem files are numbered. Those converted files should now be playable.
I am playing these files using the simple Resonic Player (beta).
And that’s it! You now have extracted sound files from the sound.dat file
NOTE – After extraction of different .dat files, many files will be of .bnk type, to extract these you would need .bnk to .ogg converter
Flash might be a hated technology; it is still one of the most used ways to let users play videos or games within web browsers. A Getting Geek reader asked me how he can extract flash files on his computer.
Hey, Saurabh!
I was playing a flash game online, and I really liked the music running in the background. I wanted to listen to the music clip only, but I couldn’t because some other in-game sound effects were also being played in the background.
Is there a way I can extract the music from an SWF File?
Abhay
Now, before we start talking about how you can extract flash files, you should keep in mind that the SWF files/games you are trying to extract may be copyrighted.
Extracting SWF Files
Flash files have a .SWF file extension, and while it is a dying tech, it is still a widely used format to distribute browser games and – in many cases – videos online.
SWF files contain all visual elements and sound files. Images are usually in. JPG or .PNG format (you can read the difference between them here) and sound files are usually in .WAV, .MP3 or .OGG format.
You can use some tools to extract SWF/Flash files on your computer locally, but, to do that, you will need to download the SWF file locally.
How you can download flash files locally
If you are on Google Chrome, simply go to the Chrome Extension Store and download and install Flash Video Downloader. Once you have done it, open the page which contains the Flash game or flash file that you want to download.
Once you are on the page, from the toolbar, click on the Flash Video Downloader icon.
Here, you will be able to see all the flash elements from the page (these have .swf at their end) to download a flash file; simple hit the big-blue download button.
Extracting the flash files
You can find many applications that can extract flash files, however, most of them are not free. Here are two of the most popular and I am sure that they will get the job done.
Extract Raw Data From Wav File
Fortop SWF Resources Extractor
The Fortop SWF Extractor is free to download application; you can install the app from the website and use it to extract any (or even all) files contained within SWF files. To do that, just open the application and drag the downloaded flash files to the software window, then you can extract any file by selecting it and then clicking the extract button on the toolbar.
The application includes a small preview of the flash file on the sidebar, and you can select and preview files before extracting them.
GlobFx SWF Extractor
The GlobFx SWF Extractor looks slightly dated and feature-less then Fortop’s offering, but once you have bought the full version, it does its job well. Unlike Fortop SWF Extractor, with this one, you can see an enlarged preview of photos without first extracting them.
In the above two, I would recommend you to install the first one if you do not plan the buy the full version as it the latter adds a bit too annoying watermarks on extracted images.
